Increase Late Registration

Live play casino tournaments allow for late registration as should our higher stakes tourneys. Nobody wants a small field and sometimes it’s hard to determine if you have enough time to actually play for 2 hours plus if you should get deep into the game. I do think for some there is an advantage to starting later but that is not really a factor.

This is online free poker not a Casino environment and I agree with you that high stakes tournaments should be different but then you must agree that the goal is to win no matter how small the field is. I don’t think the length of time is a factor here. If you have to go then go. I play to have fun with my friends but the ultimate goal is to use my knowledge and win !!!

wondering if any replay staff is looking at this thread and see how many players want registration go away? take a look at hearts people are giving to people who don’t want late registration.

You have to remember that a lot of the people who post on this are people who have strong opinions and those who want things to stay the same would not post at the same rate. Also only a small minority of Replay users use the forums unfortunately.

It’s the silent majority you have to watch out for . Get it ? Watchout for ? :joy:

They just send their opinions to higher headquarters :+1:t2::wink:

Late registration will never go away. Perhaps a smaller time period but at least we who oppose it or endorse it have enough _ _ _ _ _ to let our views be known in the public domain …

As William Wallace said “ Freedom “ !!! I love that movie :joy:

Not sure what casino you are talking bout…the casino I play at does not allow you to jus wonder on in at anytime and pull up a chair. I guess if you include small home games it could work. Slick

Just as a point of reference, late reg for the WSOP Main Event (which is not a small home game) is 7 levels. Levels are 2 hours, so late reg goes about 2 levels into day 2.

As another point of reference, here’s what Daniel Negreanu had to say in response to Mike Matusow’s rant against late reg…

“When a top pro enters late with 20 bbs instead of on time with 300 bbs, that helps literally everyone else in the tournament.” Source

The same thing applies to all late registering players, not just top pros. You will be starting with less than the average stack (assuming there has been at least 1 person bust out) and so are forced to play catch-up, and if the blinds have gone up, you will have a smaller relative stack with which to do it.

Well, the people who object to late registration are generally the weaker players who fear competition, which I understand, however I have never seen a real poker tournament (tournament for money) that did not have late registration (And usually rebuys) …so not allowing a late registration would diminish the realism of the tournament.

Let me give u a little inside info on why I will reg as late as possible to many tourneys … First of all I play to win if I am in the field … By registering late after looking at the remaining players stacks Hi and low … I am looking to see that there is not a player with 3x starting stack before late reg ends ( but then will depend on player as I have played most and know who has bad middle /end game) … now I look at short stacks and if there are more then 1/2 the tables with a less then 1/2 stack I’m in b/c I want to land on on of those tables b/c they will play many marginal holding to “get back in” and I will try to pick them off and with in a level change or 2 hopefully I will move into top of board and give myself a chance to make final table and compete for win

p.s All MTTs should have same 15 min late reg

Best of luck at the tables

The Goat  :goat:

So is what I’m reading from you is that your not so sure of your skill level so you’re looking for any advantage you can score ? How are we reading this ?

LOL I am quite sure of my skill level … part of having skill at the game of Poker is seeing an advantage and exploiting it

Well you’re quite skilled I can see so are you suggesting we should all follow your model on late registration ? I’d like to amass another billion chips or more.

No I was just giving my opinion on the subject … There is a big difference from playing MTTs and Ring i.e Cash … Players can play anyway they feel and there are many different ways to peel a cat

I’ll stay away from “ cat peeling “ :flushed:. Thank you for the conversation on the matter.

Good luck at the tables.

I’m fine with that. I don’t tell other people what they should think or how they should play. If you don’t like registering late, don’t register late.

The world seems full of people who insist on changing the rules in order to align them to their particular views. The rules of MTTs, here and in real life, allow late registration… tolerate it and be happy.

And I’m fine with that also.

Change is good . I live in America, whe are a democracy. The majority sets the rules and freedom of speech is tolerated. Bad day ?

Well actually, the US is a Federation; a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy. The founders went to great lengths to make sure a simple majority couldn’t wield it’s will over the minority. As Franklin said, “A Democracy is 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.”

I should have been more clear in my last post. The1st part was addressed to you, the rest was just a general rant about the current state of the world.

Not all change is good. Change for the sake of change, or to align rules to the benefit of special interest is not so good, in my opinion.

Anyway, you stated your opinion, I stated mine. I’ll leave it at that, OK?

I forgot I was talking to a Rhodes Scholar.
I digress……

You’re entitled to it. I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served my country so you could have an opinion and rant otherwise we’d be living under a dictatorship and we certainly wouldn’t be speaking English…

Back to topic…
