Tournament Fee? Rake?

I just noticed this when you are in the lobby. its right under the buy in amount. its fake play chips so where does the fake fee go to? I find it funny that ring games have a rake taken out as well…where does the rake go?

Into thin air, lol.
I assume it’s to make it more realistic, having a rake just like playing for real money.

My first thought was to reduce the amount of chips in circulation, but these are not real and made out of thin air so what is the point? I still don’t get it haha maybe a developer can elaborate.

Perhaps it is to reduce the amount in circulation, there’s so many ways to get free chips anyway so the rake(s) are hardly noticed, least by me.

Taking the chips out of the Chip economy and get resold again :joy:

It goes to the house just like live cash poker in casinos. Perhaps because the house must win enough of others cash/chips for a profit in the game.

Back into the chip economy to be sold back into circulation. It’s just a way of simulating Casino Poker Games.

The rake helps control inflation by removing a percentage of chips from play.

I think Craig is right, it’s to simulate real tables somewhat. It’s all good, just a part of the game.

Also, to fund all those fun promotions I like. The rake is important to keep this great site running.

I believe the rake is 5%, which really isn’t bad at all.
I used to play an online virtual horse racing game where you owned/raced your own ponies for real money, back when it was legal in the U.S. That game was a real blast, although the one thing I disliked was their rake…it was more like a shovel! :).
If I remember right, it was 15%.

yes, it’s for the Casino… 5 % is good…gl

I agree it seems pretty pointless!

When I joined RP back in 2015 the No#1 player had about 6B and now No#1 & No#2 players both have over 30B! lol

Curb inflation? U can find articles on FORUMs regarding rake etc. The site says Rake & Fees go towards pay-outs on RP. Considering all the FREE chips RP gives away with competitions, promotions, Endorsements & Missions etc I think it breaks fairly even or maybe more is given back than taken out. Hence IMO inflation is not curbed in any meaningful way!

More chips will be taken out of circulation when players quit the site. Many players will leave with Billions of chips.

And then more will be made because it’s an online video game and the show must go on, just like the American economy.

They are virtual play chips of absolutely zero monetary value. How can players “take” the chips with them from the site, sorry that makes no sense.

I wasn’t insinuating they “take” their chips with them physically or transition to a new meta fantasy world where the chips live on! lol That would be quite a ridiculous suggestion!

Many players will stop playing on the site with hundreds of millions to billions of chips in their RP Bank account. These millions/billions of fake, play currency chips are simply “taken” out of circulation - simply bc these chips and no longer being used by said inactive player!

RP chips exist only in the fantasy world of RP. The same as in a home game of monopoly, that “money” has no use in a home poker game. Vis versa in a home game poker chips have no use in a monopoly game.

RP also automatically removes (deactivates) accounts that have been inactive for over 12 months from public view on the RP site. This “deactivation” also removes players rank and basically makes them unranked. This makes ranks slightly more accurate/meaningful.

If RP was to “throw in the towel” & shut the site down, the chips would cease to exist, in the same way the site would cease to exist.

I’ve always thought the rake was something intended for the future if/when gambling online is legal in all states so they just make the application ahead of that?

**I DON’T THINK THIS IS ANY STRANGER THAN TIPPPING A VIRTUAL COMPUTER DEALER! IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL LUCKY OR MAKES IT FEEL MORE REAL GO FOR IT!

**

The house always wins, fortunately as you mentioned it all comes back to us here at Replay

There is not a limited amount of “chips”. They’re produced out of thin air, much like the dollar.
