It’s a reminder to expect the unexpected!

Have fun!

When goals collide, especially during RPOS XII, a little luck is needed to be dealt to pay for it all.

Yesterday, my goals to reach 10M, hold onto 10M by the end of the year

and to pay for RPOS were on a collision course.

Luckily, back-to-back amazing hands were dealt from the “Heavens Above”

Now, RPOS XII will be more enjoyable the rest of the way.

Should I have expected this unexpected turn of events?

you manifested it bro

How does one do that? lol

If I am manifesting it, it sure is fun!

I don’t actually believe in manifesting in the “woo” sense of the word; I don’t think anything magic happens just because you want something badly or focus on it.

But I do think having clear goals and keeping them in mind can subconsciously influence our performance in positive ways. Saturday I felt down about my play and was whining to @Lelaina, she told me I’d start winning again and I chose to believe her. The next day I broke my tournament drought and made 4 podiums, including 2nd in 5M Widow’s Bite.

I don’t think things like that are always a coincidence. I believe we can “manifest” our goals by having genuine self-confidence, because I think that is the best mindset for peak performance.

Welp…got the awfully dreaded 2nd place to just miss a TOC seat. Keep grinding on to the next ones I guess.

Well, it is well known on Replay Poker that Goatsoup had a great friend in Tiggy.

Now, it’s Younguru and @Lelaina taking over the reins together.

I shoved with 88’s and ran into AA’s and probably shouldn’t have done that!

Lelaina wisely folded.

A teenager from China won that interesting RPOS XII hand.

So, I’m out and decided to walk it off.

As I’m walking around the block thinking about it, the lawn guy with a leaf blower is on

full throttle with no end in sight.

I’m thinking, “Please turn that thing off”

Then, out of the blue, he gets a miraculous phone call.

I have a good view and angle, so he stops in his tracks and the motor idles.

He reaches into his pocket and answers his call.

Then he turns off completely the leaf blower.

The neighborhood is quiet as Excaliburns strolls the rest of the way home.

Then it hits me!

Younguru just mentioned manifestation and creating our reality.

Hey, Mr. Leaf Blower Guy, turn it off for me?

(Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me!)

Enjoy RPOS XII everyone!

Just replayed the last few hands.

I see Rain and RyRyRobe were the last two to fall vs eddiega.

I don’t know.

Thinking about a classic George Carlin routine.

I mean no harm…

For entertainment purposes only!

“he’s beginning to believe…”

but Neo, you made a crucial rookie mistake!

you spent your manifestation on a leaf blower, when you should have manifested an 8 on the river!

A couple of old timers battled it out.

The eventual winner knocked me out

It has been a tough go early on!

No joke!

Congrats to the winner!

1/4th of the series down (10 of 40 events)…I’ve had 3 top 10’s (2nd, 3rd, and 9th) but no TOC qualifying wins just yet. Sigh Just got my AA cracked in a 3-way aipf situation (v. KJs {which shoved ahead of me for 14 bigs} and K9s {weak player with chip lead tilt calling after losing a chunk on previous hand}) with 11 bigs during the middle stages of the most recent event.

Currently was leading the LoL leaderboard but again…I will be missing nearly all of the League matches from Oct. 6-Oct 8. So, I consider myself a nonfactor in that race with a lot of zeroes to come. I will get to play all 10 HRS events like usual…but rough first 2 tourneys render me way behind defending that Leaderboard title. (Last year I did go 0 for 2 to start the HRS before cashing in 7 of the final 8 events with 2 1st’s and 2 3rd’s, but I do not expect the same kind of heater this year…would be happy to get half that run of success in these final 8.)

So this RPOS thing is pretty volume based then? I’ll be honest I have no idea how it all works lol I’m just signing up for tournaments when I happen to be online and trying to get 1st place

Guru, those that win a RPOS tournament, not a satellite(altho can use either satellite or just buy in with chips), get to play in TOC(Tournament of Champions). Winner of TOC, gets to rename a MTT.

Those that get the most RPOS points, get to share a 5 million chip pool, with the winner with most points, winning not only biggest share of 5 mil chip pool, but also cool swag, etc.

Those that both play enough volume, and play well, do well, and get a little lucky, etc, will usually win out, unless a low volume player, or lesser player, etc, gets extremely lucky, goes on a real heater streak.

So far I have only played 4 events a gotten unlucky in 3 out of 4 events, and have won event #6. So unless my luck changes in the high roller RPOS events, I’m likely only get to play in the RPOS TOC, no share of 5 mil chips, no swag, etc, as my volume is too low, and my luck is too bad, so probably maybe next year, at the rate, way I am going.

There are 2 leaderboards and if you win either of those, you are considered an RPOS Player of the Year and you get a shirt and a mug with your screenname that says RPOS ## Leaderbord Winner and everything. You pretty much have to play every event in order to win the leaderboard swag. You can place in the top 20 in either leaderboard (and win some chips for the bankroll) if you simply do well enough a few times. I made top 20 in the League of Legends leaderboard last year and I missed 1/3rd of the 30 events. I won the HRS leaderboard last year because I did really well (cashed 7 of 10 times with 2 wins, 2 3rd’s, and 2 10th’s) but also played all 10 events.

The main goal of RPOS though is to win any of the 40 main events so that you make the Tournament of Champions. (At most, the field will be 40 people if there are 40 different winners. Usually, there are a couple of multiple winners thus reducing the field a smidge.) Winner of the TOC can name an MTT or cash game table of their choice. Most choose to include their screenname in the naming. For example, -BlackWidow- named the Grandaddy of the Them All as the Widow’s Bite. (madmac14 though renamed the Milky Way 1M event into the Warp Speed and thus didn’t use his s/n but his name is mentioned in the tournament lobby.) So, if you are partial to an event (like the Flying High or Black Hole), you can rename it in the manner you like to immortalize your success.

RPOS in general is basically Replay Poker’s annual “WSOP” or “WCOOP” festival.

So…if you can’t play every event, it’s no big deal. Just try to win any event you are able to play to shoot for the main prize.

It’s like saying…

Phil Hellmuth is just chasing bracelets (wins) and is thus only gonna play and focus hard on like 45-60% of the tourneys. Players like Daniel Negreanu or Shaun Deeb will play 75-90% of the tourneys chasing POY. So, to each their own how they choose to participate in RPOS.

cool, thanks guys for the explainer! I was aware of the TOC component but shaky on the Leaderboard stuff. I appreciate the clear and detailed explanation <3

Add a 5th place to my list of near misses (2nd, 3rd, 5th, 9th).

If I get another win, can I trade you a win for all those nice finishes. Variance, bad beats, lost flips, bad luck, is, has been killing me about 5 out of last 6 RPOS events played. lol. Always next year. lol

Well, it’s clear to me that RPOS XII has relatively new players scattered about that

make it difficult to advance, since we have no notes on them.

There’s a neutralizing effect.

They have the advantage, yet the old timers seem to have no problem getting past

these players.

It’s clear, there is a different dynamic with all the newer players.

“Player since: Sept 2024”

It’s also clear most are coming in with advanced skills.

Another fantastic placing @RyRyRobe 2nd in game 10 nicely done!
