When I login, my “name” changes to something your computer thinks it should be. I retype it and then it’s accepted. Why does it change and why should I have to retype it?

It sounds like you might have some saved login information from your browsers password manager. Most browsers have this these days (and there are extensions, like LastPass, that can do this as well.) and it’s often way too easy to save one by accident, or multiple logins depending on your settings.
