How to Get 1 Billion Chips

Good question! Later I will calculate total +/-, ROI and ITM % for August. I suspect the final tally is nothing too amazing lol… but the 1st place % should be nicer than usual

I suspect I gave back most of my winnings busting repeatedly in the new 2.5M and 5M tournaments, oopsie

Up a cool 70M today playing 100/200k and 250/500k ring using The Simple Strategy

Was supposed to make 800M by September 1; with my bankroll sitting at 910M today it is not outside the realm of possibility that I could reach 1B chips by the end of the month :biting_lip:

The new daily 2.5M and 5M tourneys are adding some variance to my progress, but I am starting to figure out how to play those fields/format better (I think?). Still making some mistakes on the bubble.

Ring game looking strong tho! Keeping it simple, taking aggressive lines with strong starting hands and folding a lot. Yay!

So what you are telling me I should watch out???

You are going to figure me out???

I’m going back to sleep… lol

Another unfortunate ring session had me down to 860M a couple days ago. Pep talk from @Lelaina and a helpful sprinkling of rungood got me back on track, culminating in 2nd place in the 5M Widow’s Bite and 1st in the 500k Half Mill Thrill earlier today.

Crossed 950M for the first time. Bankroll is at 966M a few days shy of October 1st.

Rank is up/down to #134, lowest I’ve seen it. Not sure if I can get Top 100 to coincide with crossing 1B but that would be kinda neat if it happens

lol what are these guys on, and where can I get some???

Peaked at 972M today, got rivered twice in big OHL ring game pots and now back down to 940M. Win those 2 pots and I’d be across the finish line already. We’re gonna make it soon… grits teeth

I see clearly now what happened here!

Split your attention probably 80% 1B goal to 20% RPOS

That’s a disappointment to everyone here hoping you’d give 100% into RPOS.

The TOC final table without you would be a crime this year.

I’d fire your secretary ASAP making the wrong appointments. LoL

It’s like a MLB player who is hitting .400 not playing in the All-Star Game or if he is, not

getting a hit.

It’s not, “We’re gonna make it soon”

It’s “We’re gonna make it after all”

That’s according to MTM.

It really should be, “We’re going to make it after I’m done with RPOS XII”

doing my best to play as many RPOS events as I can!
it’s hard out here for a ****

I find the most challenging tournaments to win are Replays freerolls because the participants range from top 100 rated players to low ranking players, bingo players, and everything in between.

Charting through such polarized waters requires a unique skill set.

Have you won many freeroll tournaments?

@Excaliburns. In hand #951471212, at a table featuring players ranked 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 9th, 13th, 18th, and 59th on Replay, they bet over 1 billion preflop.

The 7th ranked player goes all-in with a bet of more than 380,000,000, holding two-nine suited.

The top ranked players on Replay playing bingo for 1 billion.
Is this what we ‘paupers’ are aspiring to @Younguru?

Well, if you did break the speed record getting to 1 Billion, you’d have time for a few cases

of beer to drink and a box of cigars to smoke before RPOS XII ever started!

The point being the time now to complete the record doesn’t matter.

It’s like a runner about to finish a distant 8 TH.

The top 3 get to stand and wave to the crowd on the podium.

The 100 Million a month pace wouldn’t have broken the record to begin with so it’s obvious

you weren’t attempting to break it.

Only a handful of players have your ability.

They take their rightful place in the top 100.

I believe that’s your main focus to arrive there ASAP.

It’s a journey to a destination.

Remember to stop along the way and experience the sights like RPOS XII

Regarding RPOS

That’s an interesting point of view.

Especially, from a player who has 24 Million in their Replay bank.

In all reality, freerolls fall off the radar when a player’s bank is established.

You’d have to assume they had to win freerolls to get established.

To go back and experience freerolls again would need a different point of view.

A different incentive other than the small amount for victory.

The players that you mention will be encountered throughout Replay.

IMO, I see no reason to focus on freerolls.

Going back is never a good idea.

Throughout life, a general rule to live by is to never go back.

For example, If I divorced my wife, there was a reason for it. Why remarry her a year later

Same with If I left my job, there was a reason, why return to it?

I agree we need to learn to sail in all waters, but not just focusing on the port.

Focus on sailing towards “1 Billion” Island, where there’s only room for 100

Don’t make any stops

Do not pass “GO” Do not collect $200

You could say, Do not pass “RPOS XII” Do not collect a TOC Championship!

I play all levels occasionally to get a sense for how people are playing
I think it can be useful experience
You can also test different strats with no impact to your BR
Maybe it’s not good to look back if you want to go forward
Then again, those who don’t study history are doomed to repeat it!

I’m sorry, @Ecaliburns, but your analogy of freerolls as a wrecked marriage is just a bit too bizarre for me to address.

Then again, a psychologist might diagnose my reluctance to delve into it because I am petrified of the consequences of revisiting my five divorces.

@Younguru, if going forward is to play with the highest-ranked players in a billion-chip bingo game where a bet of 300,000,000 is made with two-nine suited preflop, then what, pray tell, constitutes going backward?

ps. Have you won many freerolls?

Yeah I won one a month or two ago, don’t play them hardly ever these days but from time to time I drop in to take the temperature.

Idk how representative that crazy hand is… I’ve got a couple thousand hands at 250/500k under my belt at this point, and while there’s definitely some shenanigans (it is NLHE after all), for the most part the play is pretty logical/not crazy “bingo”

This is MY biggest pot won so far:
Yahtzee!

Nothing crazy or bingo about that at all, just a good ol’ fashioned “my hand’s good, your hand’s better” (EDIT: oh, idk if you can see - KingTex had 9c7c)

@Younguru, while your pot of plus 140,000,000 is indeed commendable, it’s more than 800,000,000 less than the pot under discussion.

Do you not consider such a game by top players nothing more than a bingo game and, as such, an example of going ‘backward’ relative to skilful poker playing?

“Then again, a psychologist might diagnose my reluctance to delve into it because I am petrified of the consequences of revisiting my five divorces.

You may be confused or in the wrong place.

This is, “How to get 1 Billion Chips” not “How to get 1 Billion Wives”

It’s a great start and obviously, you have skills at ducking frying pans, potted plants,

and occasional beer bottles.

I give you a lot of credit - holding onto your sense of humor.

BTW, do you live in Tennessee? lol

If not, you may be in the wrong place (x2)
