Eights seemed to be turning up a lot in the game, my hand and in winning hands so, I posted they were hot. A few hands later…
Had J-8 and another j-8 came in the flop. Another player went all-in and I had about 1,200 chips left and called. He had a FH, I did not. 
Years ago, I read a copy of "Sun Tzu, “The Art of War”.
It is amazing how that book can also help teach you how to win at poker.
