I agree with Allyco’s comment above that the antes and limits go up 2 quickly .
Unless you win a sizeable pot early and are you have an average stack , with the five rounds of betting (as opposed to three in holdem /omaha) , you are all in after 15- 20 minutes of play if you stay to the end of the betting rounds .
I think you the site should trial / adjust the program to slow the raise in antes / limit by say 20/ 30 per cent , or probably more easily increase a player’s opening stack. .
I appreciate forcing a player all in and playing aggresive is a key strategy in the game (definitely for moi ) and would not want to see tournaments drag on and on with too slow a raise structure , but I feel the current program timings are not right at present .
The antes and limit increasing are fine for me. I think limiting the payouts to the top 5 instead of 27 as in the Freeroll MTT would make it more interesting. I don’t remember the payouts for non-Freeroll.
I remember the last time I played there were over 170 players and before the 1-hour break there were still 90 +/- playing.
The current promotions for 7 card stud tend to be primarily ring game driven. Have a promotion similar to the one they used to have for Chinese New Year (omaha and omaha hi lo MTTs 6 time a day alternating) with a leaderboard for the promotion period. Doing something similar for 7 card stud (Baseball opening day would be a good day to do it) givens lots of exposure to both varieties and spawns interest. Work for me with respect to Omaha which is now my favorite game.
In the MTT which I recently played had almost 200 players. Maybe it was the starting time? I enjoy playing but playing for a couple of hours for 5k chips made me start playing looser than usual. And, I usually play loosey goosey in those situations.
Sorry Lite, unless you start giving away free money, I am afraid 7 stud, like 5 card stud, has gone away like the dodo bird.
7 stud takes brain power, and they do not teach that function in schools anymore.
Very true ace & sad to see. Times have changed but, I am glad I taught my children the game of 7 card stud. Life is a circle and hopefully the interest will return!!
if there was was a regular table w/ a player or players playing, I’d sure play.
it was go-to poker for me and my crowd.
in dealer’s choice, one friend often wanted to play “baseball”, 3s, 9s wild, and a free card w/ a 4.
I could do w/out that one, but it didn’t matter
In case you have not noticed, next week will be a 7 Card Stud promotion week, including a week long Leaderboard.
We are replacing all 6 regular 7 Cards Stud slots with 50,000 entry, 1 million chip Guaranteed events.
Reading through this thread:
I note that some players think the 7 Card blinds rise too quickly, so next week will have 7,000 start stacks.
Monthly or annual 7 Card Stud Leaderboards have never been implemented but are not out of the question, if there is the player pool to support them.
The freeroll payouts are always longer / deeper because they are freerolls and we want more players to get some free chips. As long as they keep getting 80+ players, the prize distribution of 15% to 20% in freerolls will be our standard.
Tell your friends, lets see if this can get the 7 Stud bandwagon rolling
Stud and stud h/l are my favorite games on here. There were promotions called stud saga with leaderboards that drew quite a bit of players. I haven’t seen those in quite a while. The freerolls pay to 25, while all others pay to 30. I realize that NLHE normally has more entrants, but not always. Also, the MTT buy in tournaments have less guarantee than any other. Stud buy ins guarantee 10 times and all the others are at least 20 times. I do wish that we could introduce blinds instead of bring ins
Maybe to drum up some interest introduce some very low stakes games of stud, horse, and razz in ring games as a way for players to try them and learn the rules of them. After that they might be more inclined to play them in a tournament format. Too many times people play in a stud multi tournament and then ask - how do you play this.
I grew up on 7stud and LOVE it…Most casinos and cash sites do not even have it now:(…Because you need to look at all the other players cards, see how many diamonds or 8’s are out etc. (brain power) and ppl. today just want 2 cards and not 2 think much…Miss those good old days of the majority of games in a casino were 7 stud and 7 stud hi-low.
