More Bets > Bigger Bets

Just a quick observation that may prove useful to others. I’ve been reminding myself lately that the number of streets I bet is often more important than how much I bet on each street.

When we bet, we are saying “the cards that just came out on the board are favorable for the cards in my hand.” So each street you bet is more information for your opponent that you are happy with the runout.

I often find myself surprised at what a small turn and river bet can accomplish. On the flop, villain was a nonbeliever. On the turn, they were feeling less confident but still wanted to continue. When you bet a third time on the river, you look really strong, even if it’s only for 1/3 pot. And it starts to feel like “he wants me to call, it’s value.”

Just a thought…
