Hi Misty,
When you are new to hi/lo, it is easy to forget that you count only two cards from your hand and three from the table cards. Therefore your best hand was a pair of aces, the King in your hand did not count. The winner had two pair, 9s and 2s, he had 9 and 2 in hand and 9 and 2 on the table.
I hope this helps explain the result!

Misty for new players there is a way to be able to see what your hand is and changes for every card dealt. Hopefully someone will explain how to enact this. Once programmed it shows all the time.
