I have been following this thread and I can’t for the life of me figure out what you are saying in these two sentences or what " Normal People means " ?

When I first show up to a live tournament Im usual nervous just sitting down and playing that first hand but I over come this buy visualizing an overview of the table as if I were playing online, this makes it easer for me to unwind. Once Im more comfortable playing live the visualization of being online starts to fade but not completely I use it to think of position (which helps me a lot) and bet sizing especially (what would I do if I were playing online) and really helps maybe its because I can’t read people or am often wrong I use the visualization of online play to make my decisions easier purely by bet sizing to make decisions.
It does help me in some situations never knew if it was a good/bad thing to do but I’ve made 3 final tables the last 3 times Ive played live doing this so maybe (slightly…) Im doing something right or maybe the pond is too small and jumping into a larger pond may be crushing lol

Just as the ponds you are in now may have seemed intimidating before you ever played a live event, the larger ponds you find intimidating today may seem like small puddles tomorrow. We move forwards in steps, learning from our successes and our failures along the way. Never stop challenging yourself to improve. Never risk so much that you can’t afford to lose it. Most importantly, never forget to enjoy the journey. If you do all of this, you are guaranteed success, whether or not you make money.

Not mentioning the number 7, nor your scars & wrinkles… I shall not attempt to ask a 3rd time. The knowledge base inside your head is immense, but you cannot or willnot answer a simple question when ask’d. I have said before I will NOT write the “how to beat Sassy” post/reply. I ask’d a generic question, and ask’d for a specific responce… I didn’t get it… but I shall choose not to be disrepectfull, only Sassy.

My strategy when playing live poker is to give off as many tells as possible. That way, I look like as much of a donkey as possible. After watching me take several minutes to count out my chips (which are falling all over the place and in irregularly stacked piles of between 6 and 9 chips), and all the while I am laughing and cursing at myself and my hands are visibly shaking, what kind of read do you have?

Well for two reasons really. First to protect your hand against a mis-deal or dead hand it does happen because players don’t collect and protect their hand. Second and more importantly it is to pay attention to other players and their action before your cards become important. Your hand is only relevant when it’s your turn. Basically if you look early the pros are going to be able to put you on a hand because of your unconscious mannerisms once you have peaked.

For the same reason you don’t get dealt in immediately. Instead one should request to wait until after the button. This gives you some time to check out your opponents facial expressions get a feel for how the cards are falling. Once the button passes and you are dealt your hole cards, it’s a free ride meaning you are not obligated by having to pay a small blind or big blind. If you get dealt “great cards” you may wish to CALL. (which raises another question pre-flop, that is: What are Great cards?")I generally do a quick scan as the cards are being dealt to see if there is a “TELL” or a read of what cards they just took a look at by their reaction if any. I always wait until the last card is dealt before I look at my cards. I watch the dealer to observe how they deal. Each dealer has a style that can give you either confidence or dismay or??? Now to answer your question directly. Everyone has their own unique set of styles of play. I reckon those who wait are spending their time “Knowing what the cards are by the way they hold their eyes.” My advice to you is, read the lyrics to the song by Kenny Rogers, “the Gambler” there is so much wisdom contained there that it will help your game. Truly a Jackpot of hidden meanings, mostly hidden in plain sight. Because you mentioned that singular point and it IS a good question, I’ve noticed some players wait for their turn to see their cards then say aloud,“TIME” which gives them a full 20 seconds to consider all their observations. You may use that to your advantage but once you look at your cards…commit them to memory. I see people keep looking at their cards looking at the table back & forth over and over memorize so you can look at the players faces…SO IMPORTANT. it’s more difficult here because you can’t see facial expressions.
