What's more important than poker?

God, family, health and just about everything else is more important than poker. Poker is a favorite pastime, but none of the things above can be replaced by it. In essence, it’s a game and as with any game, it can come or go and it would not change a thing.

Chess smech. Chess is not a game as there is almost no luck factor involved. Chess is an activity for very smart people with incredible spacial perception to see who is the smartest. No bluffing, no getting lucky, no chance for the weak to beat the strong. Poker on the other hand as all those things in abundance. Bridge is somewhere in between chess and poker. Tournament bridge, especially team games, reduce the luck factor, but do not eliminate it like chess does.

The reason poker is so popular is anyone, even a novice, can get lucky on any given day and win. Other wise all the wild, high risk players we love to beat so often would not keep showing up. So just remember when Johnny Wild Thing does draw to an inside straight and hits it on the river, it just means he will keep showing up so you can beat him the next 10 times you meet.

You are literally living the dream. Wonderful!

Everything, literally everything is more important than poker.
Poker is nothing, just a gambling game and you cannot compare poker to life.
Even if someone earns a lot of money on poker, again there are more important things in life than money.
Look at poker as a way to have some fun.

the most important thing is to be calm

Nowdays, what is important in poker, is Study. Yes, study. Expecially, ranges preflop, from every position and different deepness, then even based on the stage of the tourney you are playing in (talking about MTTS ofc, not cashgame - ring game).

Then, if you want just to play your favorite cards, the most important thing is: have fun, and that s all. Lol
