Thoughts On The 2022 RTC Team Championship

First thing first: congrats to Excaliburators and everyone who made the finals.

So what did you all think about the RTC in general? What did you like, what didn’t you like? What, if anything, would you change?

I thought it was great fun again. Everything ran smoothly, on time and without a hiccup so I would say a great tournament and promotion. Bravo to the masterminds behind it :raised_hands:t2:.

The only thing I was surprised about was the Team Chat on the forums. 50 teams and only a handful of us regular posters were pumping it up there. I’m a social kind of guy so that’s normal for me but it would have been a crazy busy thread if more teams participated . Even after my team was eliminated I was still a cheerleader for the remaining teams right until this morning.

Wish we had them more than once a year like I said in another thread. Met some new friends along the weeks.

Great fun and comrarderie :+1:t2:

  1. What did you like? I liked the competitiveness of the players.

  2. what didn’t you like? Unable to think of anyhing.

  3. What, if anything, would you change? My finishing position.

I think they should keep the RTC as an annual tourney which would make it a special tourney event. This way if you make a mistake, you’ll have to wait until next year to win.

I saw posts to hold more RTC tournaments during the year.

What if they eliminated the quarter-finals and semi-finals and let all qualifying teams battle it out for 3 weeks, top total score takes it?

Tournament poker players are often one bad beat away from the rail, so this would minimize the effects of variance on the outcome.

It’s just a thought. What do you think?

Personally, I think the format is just fine and results in the competitiveness which I previously mentioned.

My preferred preference in these annual tournaments is to battle it out leading to a final table with one winner.

Any way it’s offered, I’ll participate. It’s great fun, builds friendships (sometimes), and “whets the knife.” My impression this year was that teams had really caught on to how to be competitive. Every game was challenging.
