Here’s an old Tony Bennett favorite of mine from days gone by.
In the middle 1970s, it chanced that one of his nieces worked in the bank I then used (the actual family name is Bennedetto). He wandered in to see her as I was being waited on. She shouted “Uncle Tony!” and ran round the teller line to give him a hug. It took only a few seconds to recognize him. I shook his hand, said thanks for the great music, and left. Never saw him again, but he was still alive and working a few months ago. Truly a talent for the ages.
