Have you ever thought how hard it is for the beginners and small stacks on the site to move forward to a higher level?
After all, the site is founded in the idea of a family unit with equal access. But the group I have designated has to face too many barriers to improve.
For instance, the only tournaments open to these players are those with maximum player entries, whereas those players with a higher standing can play comfortably for more chips against less opposition. Two points:
- Has the foundation of the site any desire to encourage new players to enjoy poker?
- Where is the structural element on the site to help and encourage new players?
I have my own ideas, but I would appreciate yours.
There are many good posts about how to move up, many players never come here… I recently dropped down to 100k in bankroll, so yes I know, as does staff what is involved …There are fairly easy ways to move up…
Anhaga74, good question. My 2 cents:
Persistence. Careful play. The daily gift of 2500 chips really can slowly turn into a good stack.
And beginners SHOULD study the game. I read Poker for Dummies , Texas Hold 'em chapter, several times at the start. And I stayed on the Duck Pond a good while too.
I hope this is helpful!

@JanCee Another book I’d recommend reading is “Annie Dukes How To Play Great Poker” it’s a good read and helped me improve my game. You can download the PDF for free though searching it on Google
Very cool! I know there’s much more I should read, but this is a very helpful hint about where to start. Jan
Found it! Reading it this weekend. Look out for me now! hahaha
Don’t forget the best poker book of all, One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish. Dr. Seuss could play some serious poker
My autobiography! hahahaa
Hope you enjoy it! I personally thought it was a good book and helped me out tremendously on how I thought of the way I played and helped me make better decisions at the tables. There are some really good points in the book in my opinion.
Always thought of you as more of a " Green Eggs and Ham " kinda guy
Actually, I’m more of a Horton Hears a Who (and wants it to shut TFU) man.
I’ve only just started it, but it’s right on the money for me already. It’s a great recommendation. Thanks again, Marc. Jan
Didn’t we picture Warlock, as more of a Yogi Bear … steal’n pik-in-it bas-kets…
Smarter than the average bear - I stopped wearing ties to work a while ago though.
Looks like trump with a basket full of russian cash.
I love green eggs and ham
sometimes luck plays a big part in moving on up. I was very lucky when I played the Grandaddy a couple week ago and moved up quite smartly by 33,000,000 chips… Be patient and - hopefully- lucky -
it’ll come your way.
W.O.W. That’s a lotta zeroes!
