I just took an IQ test, the first time in my life. It was more out of curiosity than egotism. I got a score of 138. According to the test I need at least 140 to be a genius and this guy called Einstein had an iq of 164. To be honest I am dis-pointed with my score, I can’t believe it is this low. Oh well, I guess I am not smart enough to earn a noble prize!
So Einstein was only a few points less than me?
There’s only a few minor flaws in his general and special relativity, but it took him a very long time to work that stuff out. He didn’t even understand that gravity is an emergent property of quantum entanglement. I could have set him straight in about an hour or two!
yes, and George W. Bush invented quantum physics!
Can I assume you don’t mean the prize for Peace…
As for the others, Anyone can win 1 of those, not just those
ppl that have all the PHDs, even I could win 1…
Ya just never know
yeh! I have no doubt!
and Al Gore invented the internet.
That’s about at the level where an IQ test becomes meaningless, assuming it’s not in most cases (which it probably is).
One really can’t trust an assessment of one’s intellect conducted by those who possess a lesser intellect. This seems intuitively obvious (no chimpanzee ever published any papers about Jane Goodall’s intellectual capacity or behavior, for example), yet there are still supposed ‘geniuses’ who try to claim they have an IQ of 175, or 200, or whatever.
There is another type of test for such people that involves more general testing of one’s ‘cognitive functioning’ and it’s a test that takes all day and involves several interviewers and a bunch of different formats. I was subjected to it once, and I pegged the scale at 99.99% which is the highest possible score (the test can’t go any higher than four significant figures for percentile). But this is not a boast because I suspect the main reason why I did so well was that I took the test while severely hung-over and not giving a f (this was during my college days), so my state of mind was likely very similar to that of the Psychiatrists who developed it (i.e., half-drunk and not giving a f) and that seems to help with taking tests.
Part of the problem with IQ tests is that the test taker’s facility with language will skew the result. Better language skills will “appear” to score higher than “poorer” language skills. Think about it: if you have a better understanding of the question, wouldn’t you expect to have more “right” answers? More right answers would result in a 'higher" score, wouldn’t it? So, the results can be misleading. And non-verbal tests are not only difficult to construct, they’re impossible to rationally assign a numerical score.
I’ve always scored very well in IQ tests, and I think they are mostly meaningless too.
I read a lot, so I have a big vocabulary, and I read very fast too. I’m sure this helps in any kind of written test.
I was a machinist for many years, and eventually an engineer. I can easily visualize 3D shapes and interactions, and i am well versed in “technical physics.” This is basically how mechanical parts like screws and levers work, and an understanding of fluids and pressures and so on. There is no doubt this helps me score higher in a lot of tests.
Does the fact that I consistently score 165+ in IQ tests make me a genius? Well, no, it’s by freakin HUGE brain that does that!
How you choose to look at a question can make a big difference in how you answer it. As a child, as a juvenile, and as a young adult, I was told repeatedly “Whether the glass is half-full or half-empty depends on how you see the world.” I decided both answers were correct and forgot about it. A few years later, an engineer friend pointed out my error: “The glass is too big,” he said.
Is 31 good or bad on an IQ test?
There exist a negative correlation between intelligence and reproductive success and nature favors organisms that can mutate rapidly. In laymen’s term, the more intelligent you are the less likely you are to find a partner. HENCE the nerds in your high school can’t get laid. As for me, I wish I am 100 iq then I can be normal!
IQ test doesn’t have a measure for art and social skill. I think being artsy and having good fundamental skill in human relations is even more important!
the test I took is called culture-fair!
sunpowerguru can you please stop making stuff up and exaggerating? do you even know the probability of finding a person of an iq 165+? thats like 1 in 100,000 people. Given that replay poker have at most 1000 players on at any time. how likely do you think someone that smart will be on here? Please say something reasonable if you are going to post under my thread! Or just go create your own thread, trust me I won’t even bother reading yours!
That would be fine with me. Just in case you change your mind, I will use small words so you can follow along.
Still, your attitude leaves much to be desired. I am downgrading you from an 8 to a 6. Post a picture of you in makeup and I might bump that up to 7, assuming it is properly applied.
For Christ’s sake man; what’s the point in bragging to near strangers on the internet about your IQ? Nobody sees someone bragging about how intelligent they are online and thinks ‘oh wow what a great person it’s so amazing they’re so intelligent and so humble as well wow I wish I could be this person’. You just come across as arrogant. Actions speak louder than words. Go do something useful with your intelligence.
thank you for the compliment! and yes I am way smarter than you!
Is that the one they give out for being a good speller
good one, its really not my fault, I am relying on replay message board to correct my grammar and spelling error!! HAHA!
