The phrase “it is what it is” speaks to the reality of life. In the larger context what happens is neither negative nor positive. It is the thinking mind that places a judgement of good or bad on what has happened. Looked at in isolation what appears to be a negative may actually turn out to be a positive or vice versa. So like bige13 said, It simply is.
