How does the fav become active? thee is a small box to click? - next to the padlock I tried but??

Press the star in upper right when the table box shows

Sign in, find a favorite game from the lobby, on the right the big game box will show, click the star and make sure it turns gold. Do this for all your favorite games, check “ favs only “ box. There you go all your favorite games for you to enjoy. Hope I explained that correct.
