Hello folks.

We are trying a membership drive for the Early Bird League to hopefully fill our teams, or even create a fifth team.

Please consider asking a friend to join the Early Bird League. We now have 4 different tournaments weekly including: NL Holdem, NL Omaha hi/lo, NL Royal, & FL 7 Card Stud hi/lo.
All Games start at 3:00pm EST. We also have Heads-Up contests of all the aforementioned games.

Hi Early Bird Members

We have been in discussion of many changes and finally agreed on the below changes.

The following changes will all be introduced starting October 1st (in the new Quarter 4).

First change will hopefully help to eliminate the penalty for too many players. We are changing the game’s team player limit from 6-8.

We are changing the team total player limit from 15 to 13. This will hopefully help to decrease inactive members by allowing more play time for each player. By being able to schedule more players more often.

We will also be changing the point system from 20 players receiving points to 25 receiving points. This is for the anticipated increase in players per game. We like to have most players get points to accurately show standings of both the player and the team. We will be using the same point structure as before (top 10 getting 2 points per rank increase, 11-25 getting 1 point per rank increase). The breakdown will appear in the guidelines next quarter.

And finally, we are more than excited to announce a Monthly Member Appreciation Game with an added prize pool of 100k. This game has no team player limit and is open to all team members. This will take place on the first Sunday of each month. And follow the same format of all the games (ie. team based play). This game will also have the same point structure as all the games, and count towards the teams standing. The first game will start on October 1st, to bring in the new quarter with a bang!

I hope everyone finds these changes agreeable. And once again We thank each and every member for being a part of this league. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you! It makes us proud to be your hosts.

Regards
Suzy, Whit, & Larry

One on One table 2: KingzRatz - -vs- Kitty’s Krushers (NL Omaha)

Hello folks, it is the end of the quarter, and what a great progression for the league it was. We manage to field 5 teams of great players and folks. In the end I think we all won, as I hope we all had fun playing. But for those that were also keeping score it breaks down to this.

1st Place goes to our Phil’s Pot Chasers with 1579pts

2nd Place goes to our KingsRatz with 1315pts

3rd Place to our One-Hit Wonders with 1058pts

4th to our Kitty’s Krushers with 649pts

5th to our River Sharks with 148pts (they just got started)

All in all what I said before rings true to me, we all won, we all enjoyed the games and socialized. Cheers to that!

Now next quarter news.

First we’ve changed the rule from 6 player max per team to 8 player max per team per game. This will help with the too many players penalties.

Second we’ve changed the structure of the point system so that instead of the top 20 getting points the top 35 will get points, and the structure also increases the amount of points in MTT the first place winner will get 100pts, and it digresses from there down to 2pts for 35th. Also the Heads-up will pay 40pts to winner and 10pts to the loser.

Now for the awesome news: We have managed to incorporate a monthly Member Appreciation Event with an added prize pool of 100K in chips. This game takes place on the first Sunday of each month and has no player limits! All members are able to play in this tournament, and we will also be counting it in the points. The first game just so happens to be tomorrow, I hope to see you all there and good luck to everyone.

Last but not least, unfortunately we are losing our captain of the River Sharks. I have volunteered to temporarily fill the position until we can get a new captain on board. I’m still the captain of the One-Hitter’s but I need to assist with the Sharks right now, need me more.

So after a discussion with the Organizer group we’ve decided to alter the start time of the league to 2:30pm EST. This time will not be changed with the future time changes. So the time will remain 2:30pm EST year round. This is keeping tradition with our name and league mission (The Early Bird League). Hopefully this will cause minimal impact on the members schedules. Most games end within an hour and a half, or minutes after when they don’t (and this is only effecting the ones fortunate enough to be at the final table
). This change will go into effect on Nov 5th (The first Sunday in November) with the EST time change. The first match with the new time slot will be the Member’s Event on that date.

A final note. The organizers are working hard to make this league better for everyone. Finally we hope all members feel free to address your concerns with Us.
We work very hard to make this league fair and enjoyable for everyone. We must all remember (and it’s so easy to forget), at the end of the day, it’s just a game, meant for fun & free chips.

In the bustling heart of Replay, a tight-knit community of poker enthusiasts came together to form “The Early Bird League Team Poker.” This league had earned a reputation for its fiercely competitive nature and its ability to attract some of the best poker players in the area. Each month, teams would battle it out for bragging rights and the coveted title.

The month of October arrived with a chill in the air, and the Early Bird League was abuzz with excitement. The league consisted of several skilled teams, but one team, in particular, stood out as a formidable force. They were known as “Phil’s Pot Chaser,” and their leader Johan (@Kondrad ) and co-captain @Sue13 .

Phil’s Pot Chaser, was a group of dedicated players who shared Johan’s passion for poker. They were determined to make October their month.

The competition was fierce, but Phil’s Pot Chaser had a relentless pursuit of victory. Night after night, they dominated the tables, amassing points and growing their reputation as the team to beat. They played with skill, strategy, and a dash of luck, earning the admiration of their fellow competitors.

However, the battle was far from one-sided. “KingzRatz,” led by Bruce, (@Grampenstein) and Suzanne (@SuzyQQ) was a close second throughout the month. Bruce was a stoic and calculated player who had a reputation for making bold moves when it mattered most. Suzy was the real boss, their team consisted of players who were not just skilled but also had an uncanny ability to stay cool under pressure. Bruce also ran the local training academy coaching new players so they may enter the competition prepared.

“One-Hit Wonders,” led by Larry, (@Larry_Laffer) and Whit (@weedwoman420) was another team that gave Phil’s Pot Chaser a run for their money. Larry was known for his unpredictability at the poker table, often confounding his opponents with unconventional strategies. Whit was a solid and righteous woman that took no crap and spoke truth to power, she never smokes weed unless it’s a weekday or the weekend, but that was it, no other days, their team was a mix of talented rookies and experienced players who meshed well, making them a formidable force to be reckoned with.

And then there were “Kitty’s Krushers,” led by Kitty (@Kitty21) herself and Simon (@RustyBlade) Kitty were young, vibrant players who brought a fresh and energetic approach to the game. Her team had a reputation for making unexpected moves, catching their opponents off guard. They played with heart and a touch of creativity that made them a true wildcard in the league.

In a thrilling series of games that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats, Phil’s Pot Chaser, managed to secure the most points, taking the month by storm. Their consistent performance and strategic brilliance had paid off. Their team had once again proven that they were the masters of the game.

KingzRatz, came in a close second, putting up a valiant fight until the very end. The team’s resilience and Bruce’s calculated moves had earned them the respect of their competitors.

One-Hit Wonders, finished third, showcasing their unpredictable style and unyielding determination.

Kitty’s Krushers, played with heart and creativity but landed in fourth place. Despite not winning this time, they had left a mark with their spirited gameplay.

As the final hand was dealt, Phil’s Pot Chaser celebrated their well-deserved victory. They graciously accepted the accolades, knowing that it was the collective effort of his team that had propelled them to the top.

The Early Bird League Team Poker had once again proven that the love of the game, strategy, and camaraderie were what mattered most. The league had a winner for October, but the spirit of competition and friendship among the players endured, ensuring that the thrill of poker would live on in the Earley Bird League for years to come.

Congratulations Phil’s Pot Chasers for winning the month of October.

We have some important changes taking effect February 1st.

First change is a team merger, combining active players from One-Hit Wonders and Kitty’s Krushers. This change is hoped to solve continuous issues of both team’s struggle to compete, due to inactive / absent players. This problem has been with us since the creation of the league. So as of 02/01/2024 the merger will eliminate Kitty’s Krushers which will be incorporated into One-Hit Wonder’s Roster.

The Roster will consist of the following players: (Subject to change)

Larry (Co-Captain)
Weed (Co-Captain)
Rustyblade (Assistant Captain)
Dreamer
HolyRoller
Tjmcfarland
Cygnusx1
Magnanimous
MrDpool
Pilot704
Rain
Pantera

Hopefully this change will benefit the League as a whole. Making it more competitive and fun. As that is the true goal.

Second change, since there will only be 3 teams after the 1st, we are modifying the one-on-ones to a single tournament of 1 player from each team. This tournament will be renamed the “Cutthroat Competition” and played with the same variation as the team tournament of the same day.

We hope these changes will increase the quality of the games and the league. Thank you to everyone for making this league what it is today.

Cheers -Larry

Hi All, I thought the members of the league may be interested in how the organizer’s converse regarding the league and it’s many ups and downs (mostly ups in my opinion anyways). So I thought it would be good to share just a few tidbits in the life of the Early Bird League and what it truly means to us.
So here goes, a few excerpts from our daily Skype Chats.

Whit, 9:44 AM
Good morning friends :hugs: Happy Friday
We are ready for a great, fun-filled practice with you guys today

In this league, as the organizers & leaders, we do not want to conduct ourselves in this way… especially at the tables for all to see. Any type of problems, they MUST be handled privately & NEVER at the table for other to see. (some content was edited to protect the innocent)

Bruce, 10:21 AM
its easy to act the disciplinarian and shoot everybody down, it’s far harder to build lasting relationships and strong ties when people lack people skills, they try to rid themselves of any people that are non-compliant.
Whit, 10:44 AM
How we conduct ourselves says a lot about us
This is all meant for fun…not to belittle people in public to make yourself feel important & superior

Having a fun & comfortable atmosphere for all is what we strive for…we never want to make anyone feel bad

had fun in that game…wd Whit

That is the core of our existence, If we can’t be civil, then we can’t exist, that simple. I would throw in the towel in a minute, if we weren’t fair to all and devoted to sportsmanship and good conduct.

I love this league, Always fair, always fun

Cheers -Larry
