Constant losing

I’m not a terrible player and certainly not the best, but I can’t understand how when I reached 1.4 million chips, I have been losing every week. Yes, I have won some, but the payout was small compared to the losses. The odds are losing this much just makes no sense. It’s like this site builds you up and then takes most of your winnings away. Even if I try to slow play I get chewed up by Replay. After a while, it’s not worth the time. It’s supposed to be for fun, but like any competition, you have to win sometimes for it to be fun. Too many bad beats or split pots, to make any sense. I’m begining to think this site just wants you to buy chips by making you lose your hard earned chips. One example. Today, 8-4-24, I had 3 of a kind only one player left, UTG, and goes to the River needing two cards to make a flush and guess what, that’s exactly what he or she got. Then I got a decent hand to go to the River with and everyone folded, but, as you would guess, one player and to add insult to injury, this player had the same cards as me but I had a higher kicker, but there was a higher kicker on the board, so we ended up splitting. Is this site using multi-decks? They say no, but how is the numbers working out like this?

You’re probably playing too many hands and not utilizing patience.

All it takes is one good winning hand early to be in a good position in a tournament.

So, use your patience and wait for a premium hand.

Good luck at the tables!

This is just bad variance. If you play long enough, not only will it definitely happen, but it will probably happen several times and some of those stretches will be so long that you begin to question the nature of human existence.

But seriously, it happens to everyone. I was steadily winning almost every day and then went on a streak of almost 2 weeks without a win in June. During that time, I was making more mistakes than usual, but I also just kept losing in every way you can think of. If I had a set, they’d make runner-runner straight. Or flush. Or have a better set. If I had QQ they had KK; if I had KK they had AA. My draws “always” missed and their draws “always” came in.

That same week I went out on the bubble in a high buy-in tournament when some monster stack just casually called my preflop shove—I had AA. He had 74 offsuit. You know who won.

I got very frustrated during that time too, but eventually I was able to get out of the “slump” by playing a bit tighter for a while, simplifying decisions, getting back to basics… and most importantly, by finally running better again

Having good notes on players will help you stay on a winning track.

If you’re at the table and have no notes on any player, then you need to improve

that aspect of your game.

Here is a random sampling of notes which might help you on your way.

  1. Go over the top on him…he will fold
  2. He plays K Rag a lot
  3. Final Table - 132 entries VG Omaha player Beware
  4. She says she never bluffs
  5. He likes to bet small bets when he has it… beware - nickel and dime you
  6. You can beat him by checking a good flop…shove the river!
  7. He called with a weak hand in Omaha
  8. He played Q5 knowing it would be a straight on the river Broadway?
  9. Royal RPOS Final Table 2023 - He doesn’t back down late in tournaments he always calls
  10. She folds when I bet pot on turn or river… usually

In reference to your number 4:

I do say that, I say it all the time, especially right after a good bluff.

Oh, but I never bluff.

Angelina,

You’ve always had a tell when you’re bluffing.

You see, it’s always a moonlit bluff

Once in a blue moon!

I did check #4 and it was from another player.

The notes about you are all “Moonlit” from the contest.

Very nice memory - Thank You!

Hey, “I was born at night, but it wasn’t last night”, ok?

No, I’m not a loose player. Been doing this for many years. I’ve played for real money. One can only be patient enough and eventually you will get eaten up by the blinds. You can’t bet with nothing. Hell, you can’t even bluff. Hands of 7-2o, A-8, a real loser, 5-3o, 9-3o, J-7s, it’s all crap. I’ve even heard real players say they can’t do anything with what they are getting. And how does a player, who may have been playing for perhaps a year have 10 million or 30 million chips without paying for them? Can’t tell me they won all those chips. This site wants you to buy chips. That’s how they exist. Think about it. Without paying customers they can’t exist.

I have been a member here for years but hardly ever played. I had less than a million in December 2023.

I have 700 million right now.

I have never bought chips.

Sorry for giving you the rookie speech but you sounded like you could use it. By default I only take people so seriously/assume they lack experience, once they start blaming the site for their losses.

I see you have about 500K left in your bank.

My suggestion is to play 500 + R Bankroll Builders.

Play only 500 + R Bankroll Builders until you win one and get your confidence back.

I’ve been there when things are, like you say, impossible to win.

That’s the best place to be to enjoy the site and conserve your bankroll.

The alternative is being broke by tomorrow.

You can turn it around if you are … patient!

Without patience, you will be broke tomorrow.

Patience is key.

Good luck at the tables.

I’ve played you before. Has nothing to do with patients. I didn’t just start playing on this site. But, thanks for your information. I’m not the only one that has this opinion. But, again, thanks for your opinion. Good luck.

I appreciate your info. Good luck at t eh tables.

Sure, but has your downswing motivated you to buy chips?

FWIW, there’s enough players who don’t have much idea about poker in the ring game pools that you can continue to grow your bank roll exponentially well beyond the 30 mil mark.

@Lelaina and I have been talking strategy pretty much daily for the past two months. That entire time she was playing only MTTs and hovering between 20-30M bankroll.

Two weeks ago she started playing ring; now she’s at 80M.

@ddafternoons if you are more interested in competitive, quality poker than you are in amassing chips, may I also suggest league play. The tournament fields in Nordic Warriors are stronger than the average 1M field on the general site, and most of the buy-ins are only 20k.

um Im technically currently on pace to get about 25 to 30 mil my first year without buying chips, as I got about 2.25 mil in first month with a lot of skill and normal variance luck, so it can be done, and others have done it. Not saying I will do it. Maybe I will, maybe I wont. I dont grind near enough volume. But it can and has been done.

ive been playing an average 3+ MTTs each day here for 2 years, never bought any chips and also -after a very lucky week- have just reached 30mil+ chips

im not the luckiest player, some days/weeks every hand will be beat, loosing to no-foldems chasing <5% time after time, its just momentary bad luck, avoid all-in, flips, bad kickers and sometimes the “luckbox” …also dont be greedy

unless your lucky all the time, your bankroll wil go 3 steps forward and 2 back

Hello and good morning. I’ve played you before. As I remember you did quite well. I’m not crying sour grapes; my wife laughs at me all the time. Now, she just ignores my rants. As long as the dishes are done, by me, she’s happy. Anyway, I guess I’m just bitching. In a real game many of these wild bets would never come up, you know it and I also. I guess I just expect too much and get hammered by the unexpected. And I don’t mind the cretique, my own word, if it’s a word, but when someone takes my griping personal and starts calling names, then the gloves come off. I’ll dive back in a get my butt handed to me, but it was just an observation. Thanks for your feedback a nothing but quads to yah. Cial.

First off thank you for taking the time to respond. I’m just frustrated with the bad beats I’ve been dealing with lately, but that’s Replay poker. Too many bingo players and I’ve been sunk by them too many times. I play slow, I bluff, not too much, I’ll fold pocket Aces at times and try all the various strategies and at times, it makes no difference. It’s just how long this losing streak has continued. But, hey, that’s for me to deal with. My wife laughs at me when I start bitching. She tells me quit if u don’t like it. I guess I chose to just grieve and play on. Good luck to you and maybe we’ll see each other on the table. Cheers.
