Yes I play for real money but in a brick and mortar casino not online. I wouldn’t say playing here has improved my game because I’m already a shark coming to play here but for a beginner it would probably help them improve their game.
That’s not true ! On a play chip site you’re always going to get some players that continue to play to the river with nothing. Move up to higher stakes when you have enough chips and the play gets better. You just joined here so in a few years you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

Talking about quality of play relates to that first paragraph. That said, I agree that of course at high stakes quality of play will be better than lower stakes but the majority of players aren’t high stakes. Top players that have played for years here will agree that the majority of players in low to medium stakes are of the calling station variety (look in Poker discussion and strategy threads). If you’re a beginner playing against them can help prepare to a degree for real money low stakes (because low stakes real money poker is also full of calling stations).

I just play to kill time and it is free. Flushes are a dime a dozen as well as straights on replay poker. At least I got two royal flushes and a straight flush when I first started playing on this site. Went up to 13 million dollars from 500 on my first two days after that didn’t matter how well I played just started losing. Once in a while they will let me win a lower tournament.

I’m gonna read your thread. I started playing 5 card stud when I was about 10, with my older brothers, so more than 50 years. I’ve played for coin with friends back in the 80s , but don’t gamble. We have a casino in my city, and I have played some blackjack and machines, but only when a date insisted on it. I have other vices that I waste my money on. : ) But I do love poker!
The free sites are fine for learning the game, and I really enjoy Replay, but it’s imperative to understand they bear little resemblance to playing live and in-person AND with real money.
Can’t wait to read your tales, and perhaps this is a great opportunity for you to maybe collaborate, or be mutually supportive with another author. As for the ‘so-called’, it’s really the proper term unless you have photo ID’d with the mods like they do on reddit. I don’t think it’s an insult at all, the mods here aren’t mean and sarky, whilst ensuring people are given a smackdown when needed. I read a lot, haha. Take care, now!

How do you know you are playing well,? Are all your bet sizings optimized? Do you have superior skills at reading bluffs?
Take into account that you may win at first, but all your opponents will be studying your style of play and looking for weaknesses. Simple example: your shove your whole stack when you have top pair, but after a while opponents notice this, so they don’t call unless they are beating top pair. Or they notice that you will shove your whole stack with top pair and medium kicker, so they will pick you up when they have top pair top kicker.
The games I play most are the MTT tournaments that are 1 million chips to enter. As you might expect, you see the same people on the final tables all the time, but frequently unknown names show up at the beginning of tournaments. Knowing nothing about them, one observes their play. Often they will be players who make huge pre-flop raises when the blinds are low, then huge bluffs, then show their cards after the successful bluff. Often they will build quite big stacks, but then they will gradually be cut down as the regular final table players figure out their game and the blinds get bigger.
Often these players are people who have bought their chips instead of winning them, and directly enter games against opponents who have won hundreds of millions, or billions of chips.
Even if you think your game is perfect, you still need to make occasional adjustments to your game, or unexpected plays from time to time, otherwise regular opponents will figure out your game and counteract it. This is nothing to do with whether Replay Poker is “letting you win”.
Even if you are dealt AA and you go all in pre-flop against a single opponent 10 times in a row and you lose every single one, it is still within the range of normal probability. One time I was dealt AA on three hands in succession. What is the odds of that?
Hmmm interesting question. Poker is an art and a science. Art being understand how your opponents play, gesture, try to remember their hands, see how generally people bet at certain hands, know how to bluff and when it is appropriate against certain people, their rank, or their chip stack. The science is basically statistics of hands. know you’re position on the table in betting order (I prefer to bet more closer to my button (bid blind). I think this is the basic and have fun. Also, take the game at your pace (use your allowed time) do not race because others are playing fast. this is an equation to not read all the cards and make a good decision.
