There are some very good articles on the “take a knee” issue in both the British and the Irish press. As outside press they are less likely to have any political interest and therefore can report a much more balanced view. Well worth the time spent researching the facts, imho.

Its a protest against police brutality and racial inequality. It is an attempt to draw attention to the socio economic disadvantages experienced by some ethnic groups in America today. It is not, and never was, a protest against the Anthem, the Flag or the veterans who fought for that flag. In fact,the gesture of taking a knee was suggested by a former green beret and is considered to be a mark of respect amongst veterans attending the graveside of a fallen comrade.
There is so much more to this and I can only suggest you get your secretary to search out and read you some independant articles or at the very least get him to buy you a braille laptop…

He first took a knee after discussing it with another NFL player (a former green beret)… Right??
The right of American citizens to protest the Flag has been challenged and proven supported by the US Supreme Court several times over the last century…Right??
