Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds value to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

One way to improve the discussion is by joining ones that are already happening. Please spend some time browsing the topics here before replying or starting your own, and you’ll have a better chance of meeting others who share your interests.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But, remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

• Name-calling.
• Attacking a person rather than addressing an opinion.
• Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content.
• Knee-jerk contradiction.
• Gratuitous negativity.
• Being sarcastic or condescending toward others’ ideas/comments.

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

Your Participation Counts

The conversations we have here set the tone for everyone. Help us influence the community by choosing to engage in discussions that make this forum an interesting place to be — and avoiding those that do not.

This forum provides tools that enable the community to collectively identify the best (and worst) contribution (for example, favorites, bookmarks, likes, flags, replies, edits, etc.). Use these tools to improve your own experience, and everyone else’s, too.

If You See a Problem, Flag It

Moderators have special authority; they are appointed by Replay Poker and responsible for the quality of all content within this forum. And so are you. With your help, forum moderators can be community facilitators, not just janitors or police.

When you see bad behavior, don’t reply. It encourages the bad behavior by acknowledging it, consumes your energy, and wastes everyone’s time. Just flag it. Action will be taken, either automatically or by moderator intervention.

In order to maintain our community, moderators reserve the right to remove any content and any user account for any reason at any time. Moderators do not preview new posts in any way; the moderators and site operators take no responsibility for any content posted by the community.

Volunteers

Volunteers of Replay Poker are players who dedicate their personal time to assisting the site. While staff welcomes constructive criticism of the site and encourages feedback from all players, we will not tolerate personal attacks, including implicit or explicit insults, on our specific volunteers or entire team. If you feel that a volunteer’s post is inappropriate, or that a volunteer is behaving in a way that is counter to Replay’s values, please flag the post and/or inform us at support@replaypoker.com. We will handle the situation appropriately as quickly as possible.

Code of Conduct

Please bear in mind that the Replay Poker Code of Conduct applies to forum postings, too.

Nothing sabotages a healthy conversation like gratuitous rudeness and ambiguous insinuations:

• Be civil. Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech.
• Keep it clean. Don’t post anything profane, obscene or sexually explicit.
• Respect each other. Don’t harass or grief anyone, impersonate people, or expose their private information.
• Respect our forum. Don’t post spam or otherwise vandalize the forum.
• Be understanding of others’ technical limitations and/or ability to clearly express their idea. Don’t gratuitously flag a post because you dislike the contributor.

These are not concrete terms with precise definitions — avoid even the appearance of any of these things. If you’re unsure, ask yourself how you would feel if your post was featured on the front page of the New York Times.

This is a public forum, and search engines index these discussions. Keep the language, links, and images safe for family and friends.

Consequences

Misuse of forum privileges can result in Warnings and/or Blocks to your privilege of posting in forum topics for a temporary or permanent length of time. Repeated misuse and/or deletion of your postings will result in a block on your ability to comment in forum topics. Moderation action is dependent on the severity of misuse and is at the sole discretion of Replay staff.

Keep It Tidy

Make the effort to put things in the right place, so that we can spend more time discussing and less cleaning up. So:

• Don’t start a topic in the wrong category.
• Don’t cross-post the same thing in multiple topics.
• Don’t post no-content replies.
• Don’t divert a topic by changing it midstream.
• Don’t sign your posts — every post has your profile information attached to it.
• Don’t dictate what others can/cannot post.

Rather than posting “+1” or “Agreed”, use the Like button.

A Few No-Nos

While we welcome open discussion, there are a few things we will not tolerate on the forum:

Advertising: Please do not post advertisements of any kind. This includes the following:

• Posting the URL of your commercial website.
• Offering a sale or free trial of your product.
• Posting references to, excerpts from, or details of your product.
• Posting with minimal content that is designed to act as a lure toward your product.
• Asking members to contact you for details of your product.
• Soliciting players to support any specific business, crowdfunding page, petition, or political campaign.

Collusion and Chip Dumping: Any posts attempting to organize collusion, chip dumping, or other cheating as defined by Replay Poker are not allowed. We’re here to talk strategy, but not ways to game the system!

Discussing Moderation: If you have any questions about a moderation action taken on your account, or would like to appeal a decision, we’d be happy to discuss it with you privately. Contact us at support@replaypoker.com and we can chat with you about it there. We care about keeping your details private, so we’ll never discuss anything that specifically relates to your account on the forum, even if you initiate it, so please do not post these inquiries publicly. We also ask that you direct any questions about moderation in general to the same email, as the topic can quickly become charged or derailed.

Future Site Functionality: Don’t post definitive answers to players’ questions regarding future site functionality. Staff will respond to these questions with the most current and up-to-date information when possible. Feel free to share helpful hints/tips regarding current site functionality that you are familiar with.

Personal Information: We care about your account privacy and will never divulge any of your personal information, be it account moderation, chip purchases, real name, or e-mail address. We ask that you offer the same respect to our other players.

Trolling and Feeding the Trolls: “Trolling” is the intent to cause conflict and provoke others for fun. It’s absolutely fine and expected to disagree or debate with others, but instigating conflict is never acceptable on our forum. We also do not allow public call-outs or accusations of trolling. Don’t rise to the bait. If you truly believe someone is trolling, do not engage with them, and instead flag the post. You’re also welcome to contact us at support or privately message the Community Manager directly.

Terms of Service

Yes, legalese is boring, but we must protect ourselves – and by extension, you and your data – against unfriendly folks. We have a Terms of Service describing your (and our) behavior and rights related to content, privacy, and laws. To use this Forum service, you must agree to abide by our TOS.
